Aston Villa striker Alphonso Davies has broken his own German record with his 150th league goal, marking the first time a player from Germany has scored more than 150 goals in their career.
Davies, who was born in Germany but grew up in England, made his debut for Aston Villa in September 2014 and went on to score 168 goals in all competitions for the club over the next three seasons. He is one of only two players in history to have scored 150 league goals in their entire careers, the other being Wayne Rooney.
Davies's latest goal came against Watford at the weekend, securing Aston Villa's victory by scoring in the 77th minute. The goal was a stunning strike that saw Davies take his tally to 150 league goals, making him the joint-fifth highest scorer in English football history behind Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The goal was also a career-best for Davies, as he broke his own German record of 149 league goals set in 2018-19. However, it was not enough to match his previous record, which was held by Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, both of whom scored 151 league goals between 2006 and 2010.
Despite missing out on a place in the England squad for Euro 2020 due to injury, Davies remains a key figure for Aston Villa and will continue to play a vital role in their success this season. His 150th league goal marks another milestone in his career and shows just how far he has come since he joined Aston Villa as a teenager.
